At Gateway Christian Teachers' College (GCTC), we are dedicated to shaping the future of education through a Christ-centered, biblical worldview. As a registered tertiary institution, our mission is to equip educators and sports coaches with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual grounding they need to inspire the next generation.
Our programs focus on building strong foundations in faith, learning, and teaching. Whether in the classroom or on the field, GCTC prepares students to make a lasting impact, transforming hearts and minds for His glory.
GCTC is rooted in a legacy of faith, vision, and a commitment to excellence in education. In 1987, in the newly independent Zimbabwe, a group of visionary men and women established Gateway School Trust. Their mission was to create schools that were Christian in philosophy, co-educational, and multicultural. This vision became a reality in 1988 with the founding of Gateway Primary School, followed by Gateway High School three years later.
Recognizing the need for skilled teachers who embodied the values and mission of the Gateway Schools, the Trust expanded its vision to include staff development and teacher education. In January 1993, GCTC was established on the premises of Gateway High School, where four pioneering student teachers began their journey under the guidance of a dedicated tutor. These students pursued degree programmes through UNISA (University of South Africa), supported by the College's early academic infrastructure.
Over time, the College relocated to its current campus and broadened its scope to include a sports department. Today, GCTC offers a wide range of teacher education, sports coaching programmes, and continued professional courses designed to empower educators and coaches to lead with a Christ-centered biblical worldview.
At GCTC, we remain committed to equipping educators and coaches who not only reflect our founding vision but also influence education and values across Zimbabwe and beyond for generations to come.
At GCTC, our Vision and Values are guided by the Gateway School Trust's Purpose, Vision, and Values (PVVs). These principles serve as the foundation for all we do, driving our mission to equip educators and coaches to lead with a Christ-centered biblical worldview.
